AirAsia Launches Affordable Festive Travel Campaign as First Fixed-Fare Hari Raya Flight Departs Kuala Lumpur Fully Booked with One Hundred Eighty Passengers

Kicking off the festive travel season with celebration and success, AirAsia’s inaugural fixed-fare Hari Raya flight departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA T2) for Miri, Sarawak with every seat filled—marking a 100 per cent passenger load.
Flight AK5648 welcomed 180 passengers on board, each receiving a heartfelt send-off from Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, and AirAsia Aviation Group’s Deputy CEO of Airline Operations, Datuk Captain Chester Voo. The event marked a festive milestone in the airline’s seasonal initiative to support affordable travel during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The fixed-fare festive flights were first introduced by the Transport Minister on February 26, 2025, with a total of 16,000 subsidised seats offered across 10 East Malaysia routes from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. Prices were locked in at RM328 for flights to Sarawak and RM388 to Sabah—one-way rates designed to ease the financial burden for travellers during the busy holiday season.
As part of the celebration, AirAsia created a festive buzz inside KLIA T2’s departure hall, surprising guests with live entertainment by singer Mimifly and a high-energy appearance by the airline’s iconic Fun Team. Travellers also enjoyed interactive games, cultural showcases, and exclusive Hari Raya-themed giveaways.
To enhance efficiency and reduce airport congestion, AirAsia is encouraging all guests flying during the Hari Raya period to check in using the AirAsia MOVE app. The app enables mobile check-in as early as 14 days before travel, along with access to e-Boarding Passes for direct boarding.
The airline also reminds guests to plan ahead. Check-in counters at KLIA T2 will close one hour before domestic departures, while other Malaysian airports will close counters 45 minutes prior. Baggage drop opens three hours ahead for international flights and two hours prior for domestic journeys.
Travellers are allowed to bring one cabin bag (56 x 36 x 23cm) and one personal item—such as a handbag or laptop bag—on board, with a total combined weight limit of 7kg.
As the festive season takes off, AirAsia’s commitment to affordability, accessibility, and joyful travel remains stronger than ever, connecting families and communities across Malaysia for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025.
